Der 25 jährige Fotograf, Di Liu, wurde für seine Fotoserie “animal regulation” mit dem 2010 lacoste elysée prize ausgezeichnet. Zunächst wurden zwölf Künster ausgewählt, um im Rahmen eines Stipendiums in Höhe von 3000 CHF, den Code des “berühmten” Lacoste Polo-Shirts L.12.12. fotografisch zu erarbeiten. Drei Monate hatten sie dafür Zeit. Die Arbeit von Di Liu tematisiert die Gegensätzliche Beziehung von Natur und menschlicher Gesellschaft, besonders in Zusammenhang mit der enormen Geschwindigkeit der chinesischen Stadtentwicklung.

In den Worten von Di Liu:
“As consumer merchandise, the L. 12. 12 polo shirt is the exact opposite of nature. however, by choosing an animal as its symbol, lacoste reflects its spirit. thus, lacoste imports an element of nature into people’s daily lives. I do the same in my work and have therefore chosen to let the L. 12. 12 become an integral part of it. if you look very closely, you will notice three polo shirts, one inside each image.”
